The Safer Internet Day is observed every year at second Tuesday of the February month. The sole purpose is to raise the awareness specially for children and young to use the internet with safety, respectfully, creatively and critically.
The rise in the internet use concerns us more about its safety. Recently the Australian Government has banned the Social Media use for the children. 'We want to work together to keep teens safe and reduce the unintended consequences of this law for all Australians' said the Australian Government.
According to the pew research 90 percent of the American said that internet has been essential for them. The data also increases our responsibility to use it safely and make it better place for others.
Theme of the Day
The global theme of Safer Internet Day 2025 is 'Together for a Better Internet.
The indicates how all the stakeholders contribute collaboratively to make the internet a better and safe place for all.History of Safer Internet
The Safer Internet Day is an InSafe, EU Network initiative, which was earlier took place to safe border. Later in 2009 it was accepted and celebrated widely by more than 200 countries. Currently there are many SICs committee working together. Insafe is a European network for Safer Internet Centres (SICs). Each national centre that spreads awareness and runs educational campaigns runs a helpline for young people.
